Latvia, as one of the cultural centers of Northern Europe, is pleased to once again welcome young international opera stars from around the world. On 3 July 2025, the third international Gala Concert featuring young opera singers, scholarship holders of the charity SIAA Foundation from the Principality of Liechtenstein will be held at Dzintari Concert Hall, accompanied by a symphony orchestra, and conducted by the Chief Conductor of the Latvian National Opera, Mārtiņš Ozoliņš. The first concert in Latvia took place at the Latvian National Opera in August 2017. Ten soloists participated in the concert, and it was a great success. The second concert of the SIAA Foundation scholarship holders held in June, 2023 at Dzintari Concert Hall was no less successful.
The name of the charity foundation "Sic itur ad astra (SIAA Foundation)" ("That's how we go to the stars") perfectly matches its mission - to guide and promote young opera singers, to help them launch the careers, providing all kinds of support in their professional musical development. For up-and-coming opera singers who are confident and motivated to move up the opera career ladder, the charity foundation "SIAA foundation" helps organise concerts with the participation of world-famous conductors and symphony orchestras in the most popular concert halls around the world. So, for example, concerts and performances by scholarship holders took place in Milan's Grand Verdi Hall (2022), Malaga's Teatro Cervantes, Spain (2022), Waidhofen an der Thaya Stadtsaal, Austria (2021), Gewandhaus Leipzig, Germany (2024). Several concerts of young soloists, members of the siaa Foundation were held under the masterful direction of the celebrated Maestro Daniele Agiman in a variety of prestigious concert venues including Seongnam Art Center, Korea (2022), Teatro Regio di Parma, Italy (2023) and Teatro Comunale di Sassari, Italy (2024).
On 3 July, 2025, seven gifted and promising SIAA Foundation scholarship holders will present their talents to the audience: Lithuanian mezzo Wyss (Sidlauskaite), Lithuanian baritone Romanas Kudriašovas, Chinese soprano Fan Zhou, Chinese tenor Lian Wang, Lithuanian soprano Sandra Sarikovaite, French mezzo Léontine Maridat-Zimmerlin and South African bass Msimelelo Mbali. They will perform timeless opera masterpieces - iconic arias by Verdi, Mozart, Bellini, Rossini, Bizet, Donizetti, Puccini, Strauss, and other world opera classics.
On 3 July 2025, the participants of the concert “Young International Opera Stars” at Dzintari Concert Hall, young promising scholarship holders from different countries of the world will delight the audience by performing timeless opera masterpieces - iconic arias by Verdi, Mozart, Bellini, Rossini, Bizet, Donizetti, Puccini, Strauss, and other world opera classics. The names of young vocalists who will take part in the Gala Concert at Dzintari Concert Hall will be announced shortly by the Foundation.
All seven scholarship holders of the charity “SIAA-foundation” from the Principality of Liechtenstein who will take the stage at Dzintari Concert Hall on 3 July are already performing at the world's leading opera houses such as Teatro alla Scala and the Metropolitan Opera. For example, mezzo Eglė Wyss made her recent debut as Grimgerde in Wagner’s opera "Die Walküre" at La Scala under the baton of Simone Young and Alexander Soddy. Among the participants are winners of such well-known competitions as BBC Cardiff Singer of the World, Singapore International Vocal Competition and others. At the gala, the artists of the concert will represent various European opera houses.
Opera and symphonic music admirers will find this concert very satisfying.
